Domains and Hosting

These are the domain and hosting companies that provide the network infrastructure and commercial services that I refer to clients. Each has a proven track record of good customer services, reliability, and value for money. Most of my hardware purchases are made through Amazon unless the product is too vendor or industry specific.

Domain Registrar

Namecheap

Registering a domain is the first step of creating a website and is one of the most important decisions to make. Asking yourself “what’s in a name?” should be given serious thought. A domain name is an important part of a brand’s image, retention, discoverability, legibility, and search engine optimization.

I have used Namecheap for all of my personal and commercial domains and have found the service to well priced and easy to use. Namecheap offers frequent promotions which have only helped bring my costs down and includes a free year of WhoIs Guard with new purchases. WhoIs Guard is a third party service that hides a domain owner’s information from being public. These details include the owner’s contact and address details.

Web Hosting

Registering a domain is the only first step of sharing your site with the world. Every site needs a home and that is where hosting comes into play. The traits of a good company are platform support, reliable servers, multiple data centers, up to date security, capable tech support, and attractive pricing.

For the past three years I have used Web Hosting Hub through my accounts and those of my clients and colleagues. They offer round the clock technical support and have always been forthcoming and responsive with answers to any questions. I have accessed my hosted sites from all over the world and have experienced consistent loading and response times. Web Hosting Hub provides a cPanel back end as their account management environment.

Amazon Affiliate Program

My field of work frequently has me purchasing or referring a variety of equipment for: network installations, computer repairs and upgrades, pro audio purchases, and even home improvement.

Amazon.com has proven to be a trusted companion as I have traveled and lived in multiple countries. Through Amazon’s combination of local sites and international shipping I have managed to maintain a consistent standard of production selection and availability for a variety of projects. Especially in cases where the products are simply not available locally or at competitive prices.

The affiliate program allows me to refer clients to Amazon’s store front where they may opt to purchase the hardware required for the current project.
